Benedict XVI wore a magnificent chasuble yesterday for the Epiphany Mass in the Vatican. It was priceless. All gold. A tremendous work of art.Would John Paul II ever have worn something as beautiful and traditional? Yeah, he would have, when pigs fly!! LOL!!
For the episcopal ordination that took place inside St. Peter's Basilica on the day of the Epiphany, not only the Pope but all the concelebrants wore the "pianeta". And what a magnificent new mitre the Holy Father wore for the occasion! Finally, the Pope started to look like a Pope again, a Supreme Pontiff, the Vicar of Christ on Earth, and not like the Archbishop of Canterbury. There are few priests and lay people still around today (thankfully in their 60s and 70s and so on) who hate that particular traditional Roman Catholic look. They find all kind of arguments to criticize the Holy Father's tall mitres by calling them monsterous and exaggerated chimneys. By doing so, these same people attack the essence of the eternal and triumphan Roman Catholic, and produced numerous saints and martyrs.
